Refund Policy
The short version
- First subscription purchase: ask within 5 days — refundable only if you have not spent any ✨ golden credits.
- A renewal charge: ask within 5 days, again only if no ✨ golden credits have been spent that cycle.
- Golden-credit packs: ask within 5 days, and only while the pack is completely unspent.
- Cancel any time — but today the reliable route is to message support, and we’ll cancel it same day. There is a self-serve Manage subscription button on the Plans screen if you’re on a paid plan, and it doesn’t work yet: Stripe’s portal isn’t switched on behind it. Details here. Either way you keep access through the period you already paid for, then drop to Bronze.
- Ask via the support desk or support@stickyfriend.ai; Stripe sends the money back to your original payment method.
Your first subscription purchase
5 days, and only if you have not spent a single ✨ golden credit.
If this is the first time you’ve subscribed to a paid plan (Silver, Gold, or Diamond), you can ask for a full refund within 5 days of that purchase — provided you have not spent any ✨ golden credits. Golden credits are what buy ✨ Smarter replies, and once one has been spent the work it paid for has already been delivered, so the purchase is no longer refundable. Ask through the support desk and we’ll take a look and get back to you.
Renewal charges
5 days, and only if no ✨ golden credits were spent that cycle.
If your subscription renews and you have not spent any ✨ golden credits since that renewal, you can ask for a refund of the renewal charge within 5 days of it happening. Spending even one golden credit in that cycle ends eligibility for that charge.
Golden-credit packs
Refundable in full while the pack is untouched.
Ask within 5 days of buying a one-time pack (Mini, Mid, Maxi) and we’ll refund it in full — as long as none of it has been spent. Golden credits pay for ✨ Smarter replies, and those replies have already been delivered, so a pack that has been dipped into is not refundable, in part or in whole.
We can tell whether a pack has been touched, so you don’t have to. Your account keeps bought credits in their own counter, separate from the ones your plan grants each month, and it always spends the plan credits first — bought credits are only touched once your plan credits have run out. So if you bought a 500-credit Mid pack and that counter still reads 500, none of it has been spent and the whole $20 comes back.
That counter is what we check, and if it has moved at all, the pack is no longer refundable.
One refund you never have to ask for. Packs are a subscriber-only product, because golden credits only buy ✨ Smarter replies and Bronze can’t send those. If a pack is somehow paid for on an account with no active paid plan — an old checkout link, a forwarded page — our server refunds the payment automatically when the credits would have been granted, and adds none. You’ll see the refund from Stripe without opening a ticket.
Cancelling
Any time, no penalty — but read the caveat.
Message support and we will cancel it for you, same day. Open a ticket from Support, use the Message support link at the bottom of the Plans screen, or email us. That is the route that works today, for every account, and it is the one to use.
There is also a self-serve button, and here is the honest state of it. On the Plans screen, an account on a paid plan gets a “Your plan” panel at the top with a Manage subscription button. Pressing it asks Stripe for a one-time link into Stripe’s own billing portal, where you would cancel, switch plan, update your card and download invoices. That portal only opens once we’ve saved a portal configuration in our Stripe dashboard, and we have not — we checked while writing this, and there are zero configurations on the account. So the button currently comes back with an error instead of the portal. We’d rather tell you here than let you find out at the moment you want to leave. You will never have to keep paying because a button didn’t work.
Two things about that button that are easy to misread as faults:
- A free (Bronze) account doesn’t see it at all. The whole “Your plan” panel only renders for a paid plan, because a free account has no subscription to manage. If you’re on Bronze and can’t find a Manage subscription button, nothing is broken — there is nothing to cancel, and no card of yours is being charged.
- An account that has never paid through Stripe has no customer record to manage, so even a paid plan granted by hand has nothing for the portal to open.
Cancelling doesn’t cut you off immediately — your plan stays active through the end of the period you already paid for, and then your account drops to Bronze. Your chats, subjects and notes all stay, and so do any golden credits you’re still holding; nothing is clawed back on a downgrade. Cancelling on its own doesn’t trigger a refund; if you also want a refund for the current period, it has to fall within the windows above.
How to ask for a refund
Open Support in the app and start a ticket — it’s a real thread, so replies land in the same place — or reach us at support@stickyfriend.ai. Let us know which plan or credit pack, and roughly when you paid; that’s usually enough for us to look it up.
How refunds are processed
All payments run through Stripe, and refunds do too — Stripe sends the money back to whichever payment method you originally paid with. We never handle your card details directly. Depending on your bank or card issuer, a refund can take a few business days to actually appear.
